What Are Tooth Extractions?
Even though Dr. Sula E. Umansky makes every attempt to save and preserve your natural teeth, there are cases where a tooth or teeth might have to be taken out. A simple extraction removes a tooth that's visible above the gums. This is usually done for a tooth that's decayed or damaged and cannot be repaired. A surgical extraction removes a tooth that hasn't erupted over the gumline. Surgical extractions are commonly done to remove wisdom teeth and impacted teeth that don't have sufficient room to fit into your mouth. No matter the reason for needing an extraction at Advantage Dentists and Orthodontics, our team will treat you with optimized care. Our Atascocita, TX office offers multiple sedation methods, such as nitrous oxide and oral-conscious sedation, so that you can remain comfortable and calm throughout your treatment. Contact our team for more information or to schedule an assessment to boost your smile.
How Are Tooth Extractions Performed?
Dental extractions are done in our office with local anesthesia in the area near the tooth being worked on. Other types of sedation may be used depending on the degree of the procedure and also to help keep you relaxed if you have dental worries. As soon as you are prepared, the procedure will begin. In a simple extraction, the tooth will be loosened using a special device called an elevator before removing the tooth. A surgical extraction entails making incisions in your gums to get to the tooth. If needed, the tooth may be broken up into smaller pieces so that it can be taken out. Once the tooth is removed, the incision in the gums will be closed. If you have a current infection, a compromised immune system, if the procedure is lengthy, or if you have some other specific health conditions, you may be prescribed antibiotics to be taken before and following the process.
What Are the Benefits of Tooth Extractions?

- Could help avoid infection in the mouth
- Carried out with a local anesthetic to dull the treatment site to keep you as comfortable as possible

Like I used to go to south Texas dental and that place is really ghetto and nasty and they aren't good at booking your appointment on time and my mom took me to Atascocita and took me to advantage dentist , they have it so clean and talk to u really nice especially to my little brother they make us clean our teeth in the same room so our siblings can get comfortable and I also got my wisdom tooth out from them and I had a pleasant experience !
